 | The Most Reverend Lawrence E. Brandt, J.C.D., Ph.D.
Bishop of Greensburg
Welcome to the Diocese of Greensburg’s Web site for vocations. This site is being developed by the diocese to provide information and a better understanding of the ordained priesthood, and religious life to those who are interested , as well as curious. This site guides individuals on how to pursue the vocation, which God is calling, and gives resources to help in this pursuit.
On May 2, 2004, the 41st World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope John Paul II reflected upon the Scripture passage, “Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2). With the ever-present ‘clergy and religious shortage’ we all have the responsibility to pray men and women hear and answer God's call. While prayer is essential, we need to do more. Men and women who are being called by God to serve in the priesthood or religious life need the support and affirmation of the Christian community. They need our support.
To the men and women who have heard God’s call in their lives and are struggling to take the next step, I offer to you the prayer of our Holy Father:
Merciful and holy Lord,
continue to send new laborers
into the harvest of your Kingdom!
Assist those whom you call
to follow you in our day;
contemplating your face,
may they respond with joy
to the wondrous mission
that you entrust to them
for the good of your people
and of all men and women.
However God is calling us, may we all make the effort to grow into our vocations. As we continually re-dedicate ourselves to doing God’s will, may all who are called to love God, through priesthood, religious life, married life and consecrated life, have the courage to say “yes” to God’s plan for them. | | Click on the desired link to listen to Bishop Brandt speak about vocations:
