The Conference for Pastoral Planning and Council Development (CPPCD) is the only national Catholic organization devoted to the promotion of pastoral planning and the development of pastoral councils at the diocesan and parish levels. CPPCD is a professional membership organization that promotes shared responsibility at every level of the church through consultative processes. CPPCD provides services to bishops, dioceses, parishes, and other Catholic groups and supports national research through the Catholic Research Forum.
Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) is a national, non-profit, university-affiliated organization that conducts social scientific studies about the Catholic Church. Founded in 1964, CARA has three major dimensions to its mission:
- To increase the church's self understanding
- To serve the applied research needs of church decision-makers
- To advance scholarly research on religion, particularly Catholicism
