Site of Greensburg Central Catholic addition blessed

GREENSBURG — Amid raindrops, Father Alan N. Polczynski, chaplain of Greensburg Central Catholic High School, on March 14 blessed the construction site of the school’s anticipated $1.6 million addition to the building.

The project is the fourth and final phase of school renovations and the culmination of a $2.5 million capital campaign initiated in 2003.

The new phase IV addition will include the expansion and updating of the current women’s locker room, a new visiting team locker room, more general storage space, and an auxiliary gymnasium and auditorium that will seat 200.

Phase III included refurbishing the gymnasium floor and installing new windows, an automatic bleacher system, and new backboards and hoops.

Phase II involved renovating the third-floor classrooms, updating chemistry and biology labs, restoring the chapel area, and installing a distance learning center.

Phase I expanded the weight room and men’s locker room and created a health suite. All windows in the main building were replaced.
