Education and Faith Formation
“… The Catechetical Office, therefore, which is part of the diocesan curia, is the means which the bishop as head of the community and teacher of doctrine utilizes to direct and moderate all the catechetical activities of the diocese.”
~ General Catechetical Directory - 1971
On behalf of the staff of the Office for Evangelization and Faith Formation of the Diocese of Greensburg it is my pleasure to welcome you to our online home and introduce you to the many ministries and initiatives entrusted to us by the bishop. Our role in the diocese is to provide vision and leadership to those involved in the many aspects of evangelization and faith formation.
These responsibilities include providing:
· Support and resources for faith formation, youth and young adult ministry, and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) leaders.
· Training and certification for catechists in our Catholic schools, parish faith formation programs, and families forming the faith in the home.
· Guidance and direction in evangelization, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and marriage preparation and enrichment.
· Oversight of curriculum, faith development, and sacramental preparation guidelines for children, youth and adults.
· Programming for youth, young adults, and Catholic scouts.
As you explore our online home and find the many ways in which we assist the bishop, parishes, and schools in the evangelization and faith formation of the people of the diocese we hope and pray that you and your family will be inspired to embrace and proclaim the Scriptures; be full and active participants in the Mass and your parish; and participate in the discipleship and the life of the Catholic church through serving others. Should you have any questions or need additional assistance please contact me.
In Christ’s Peace,
