Save a Draft

Outlook—Saving a draft and returning later

In Outlook, you can create a message and save it without sending it then return to finish and send it later. This is called saving a draft email.

Start by sending a new email. Click the drop down box from new icon on in your toolbar and choose Mail Message.

Now type your email. When you are ready to save the draft, click the Save button in the window.

After that, you can close the message by clicking the X in the upper right. The message will now be in your Drafts folder, where you can double click to open the message and send it when you want to or you can continue typing and resave it.

You can now save a draft email and return to it later.
