Orientation to Outlook
Outlook is the new replacement to Lotus Notes. It is integrated into your Network Account so there is no longer a need to use your Lotus Notes password or iNotes password.
You can start Outlook by clicking the icon with the small clock
Or you can go to Start >> All Programs >> Microsoft Office >> Outlook 2007
The first thing you will notice is that new/unread messages are Black instead of the Lotus Notes Red. All unread messages will show up in your mailbox as a boldface black message while your old messages will show up as a black font. You can change this color by going tothe Changing the Color of Unread Messages tutorial.
By default, Outlook provides you with a preview of your currently selected message in the reading pane. If you would like to disable the reading pane, you can do so by referring to the Removing the Reading Panel tutorial.
On the left of the program, you can see all your folders as they were migrated from the old email system. Clicking any of the folders will list all the items stored in this folder.

Go back to your inbox; from here you will send a new email. Click the drop down box from new icon on in your toolbar and choose Mail Message.
To send a message to Tony Krance, type "krance" into the To address area. In Lotus we were used to it automatically filling in the rest of the name. This is not automatic the first time you try to send a message to someone so you must press CONTROL + K to check the name. Now you will see Tony Krance's name come up and is underlined. This means Outlook found his name in the address book and you are ready to continue the message.
If you would like to add additional people to this email, please click address book in the toolbar.

Now you will recognize the Diocese address book which is called the Global Address List. You can view your own personal contacts by selecting Contacts from the drop-down. Double clicking a name will add them as a recepient of the message. When you have added all your recipients, click OK.

You can now send your message by clicking Send.

Now that you have sent a message to Tony Krance. He is now remembered on your local computer so the next time you send a message to him, outlook will automatically complete his name.

Now that you have the basics of sending emails, we will look at the calendar.
You can go to the calendar by clicking calendar on the far left.

You can change your view by clicking the Day-Week-Month Views above
If you have a need to either share your calendar or view another person's calendar, view the Calendar, Tasks & Address Books tutorial.
