Outlook—Requesting a read receipt
A read receipt is an email that you will get back after your recipient opens your email. Remember, you are requesting a read receipt, not forcing them to send one. In most email systems, our system included, recipients have the choice whether they want to send a read receipt or not.

First, open a new message.
Now Click the Options tab and check the box to request a read receipt.

You can now send the message and your recipient will be asked if they want to send a return receipt when they open the email.
