General Orientation to Outlook Web App

Outlook Web Application or OWA is the new replacement to iNotes. It uses the HALO network account and password so it is the same password as your HALO network login and SharePoint Login.

You can start OWA by going to the Diocese of Greensburg Homepage

Hover your cursor over MyHalo and choose Outlook from the drop down menu

Now you can login with your credentials

The first thing you will notice is that new/unread messages are Black instead of  Red.  All unread messages will show up in your mailbox as a boldface black message while your old messages will show up as a black font.

By default, outlook provides you with a preview of your currently selected message in the reading pane. If you would like to disable the reading pane, you can do so by referring to the Removing the Reading Pane tutorial.

On the left side of the screen, you can see all your folders as they were migrated from the old email system. Clicking any of the folders will list all the items stored in this folder.

Go back to your inbox, from here we will send a new email. Click the drop down box from New icon on in your toolbar and choose Message.

Now, to send a message to Test Exchange, for example, type exchange into the To address area. To search for Tony Krance in the address book, you must press CONTROL + K to check the name.

Now you will see Test Exchange's name come up and is underlined. This means Outlook found his name in the address book and you are ready to continue the message.

If you would like to add additional people click on the To link next to the recipients field

You can now add additional contacts by selecting their name from the list by double clicking on their name. When you are done select OK.

You can now send your message by clicking Send.

Now that you have the basics of sending emails, we will look at the calendar.

You can go to the calendar by clicking calendar on the far left.

If you have a need to either share your calendar or view another person's calendar. You can view the tutorial on sharing tasks and address books.

You now have the basics to use OWA 2010G.
