· 7,000 children in grades K-8 who are served through parish faith formation programs.
· 1,500 youth in grades 9-12 who are served through parish youth ministry programs.
· 128 people who were fully initiated into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.
· 400 youth and adults who attended various diocesan youth celebrations and faith nights.
· 200 people who attended the diocesan Evangelization and Faith Formation Conference in September 2011.
· 1,000 catechists and Catholic school teachers who are participating in the Training and Catechetical Certification Process.
· More than 3,300 students who attend 14 elementary and 2 secondary Catholic schools in our diocese.
· 16,100 people who received information or emergency assistance with food, utility payments, shelter and other basic necessities from Catholic Charities during the past year.
· 1,335 individuals or families who requested assistance with rent, mortgage or housing from Catholic Charities during the past year.
Facts that demonstrate increasing needs include:
· 3 of our 4 counties were among the 10 poorest in Pennsylvania, based on per capita income from the U.S. Census Bureau’s last census for which results have been received.
· 25 percent of Catholic school students in the diocese are from families that meet federal low income standards;
· Last year, Catholic Charities saw a 9.6 percent increase in the average number of people who requested assistance. This increase was made up nearly in total of housing, rent or mortgage needs.
