Catholic Identity

Catholic identity is a key concern for us in Catholic school education today. The Diocese of Greensburg requires religious education and spiritual formation in our schools, focusing on the role of Catholic education as a mission of the church and preparing students to lead and serve.

The areas of study include:

V  Community:  Integrating diversity

V  Word: Teaching the authentic message of the church

V  Worship: Expressing Catholicity in liturgy, prayer and daily life

V  Service: Providing opportunities for outreach within the school and the greater community

V  Evangelization: Spreading the good news of the faith

V  Stewardship: teaching responsibility through the prudent use of time, talent and treasure

Community Service

At our Catholic schools, students are immersed in Gospel values. Service is at the heart of the Gospel message.

For this reason, many students are required to engage in parish service. All schools sponsor service projects throughout the academic year. Service to both our parishes and communities are vital elements of our religion curriculum.

Our teachers discuss service learning during religion classes and work with students to generate ideas on how they might become involved in such learning processes.

The objective of the service projects is twofold. In addition to having positive impacts on our communities, students are encouraged to reflect on their service experience to identify how they were served, personally and spiritually, by reaching out to help others.

Service Clubs

V  Anthem service club

V  Liturgical cantors and lectors

V  Altar servers
