Corpus Christi Kick-Off Procession in Jeannette
By Kat Kersting
For The Catholic Accent
Jeannette – Parishioners from around the Diocese of Greensburg joined Bishop Larry J. Kulick in a Eucharistic procession through the streets of Jeannette from Sacred Heart Parish to Ascension Parish, after the Bishop celebrated Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi June 19. The procession kicked off a three-year Eucharistic Revival in the Diocese of Greensburg.
Before the procession, Bishop Kulick expressed hope that the Mass and procession would bring communities together in prayer for hope and healing, as such processions are valued in the Catholic faith and history. Adoration is often performed during times of isolation, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, to bring people together again.
As the faithful processed, the streets of Jeanette were filled with prayer and heartfelt hymns, touching the lives of many residents who blessed themselves as the Blessed Sacrament passed by their homes.
Bishop Kulick and Deacon William M. Newhouse, Administrator of the Jeannette parishes, said it was a blessing to celebrate this special event in Jeannette, an innovative and generous Catholic community. He thanked the leaders of both parishes who continue to adapt to change and provide for those who need care, and noted that both parishes are beautiful symbols to represent the Diocesan Eucharistic Revival.
