Each member of the body of Christ has a part to play in advancing the mission of the Church. This certificate program equips those members who are called to advance this mission in more formal and structured ministry as catechists, teachers, youth ministers, evangelists, pastoral associates, and permanent deacons, among others.
Convenient Virtual Saturday morning classes
Classes take place Saturday mornings from 8:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Nearly all classes will be virtual. Other program activities, such as trainings, retreats, and field experience, will take place in person.

Admission and Sponsorship
Admission to program
Since the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry is a partnership between the Diocese of Greensburg and Seton Hill University, prospective students must follow the protocols of the application process particular to each institution. Admission to the program is contingent upon acceptance by Seton Hill and sponsorship by the Diocese of Greensburg or another church judicatory.
An applicant must meet all of the academic standards that are set forth by the university and participate in an interview with the program director prior to admission into the certificate program. An applicant must submit to the university the following documents:
- A completed Seton Hill University application form.
- An official copy of a high school transcript or GED.
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.
- A statement of interest in the pastoral ministry program (two-page limit).

Upon acceptance to Seton Hill University, the Diocese will contact you to complete their portion of the application.
Financial Aid Information
Students in the online pastoral ministry program are given a discounted university tuition rate. In addition, application to the Diocese of Greensburg’s Anselm Fund can cover half of the remaining tuition. Students who complete the certificate program also have the option to complete their B.A. in Religious Studies or Theology at Seton Hill at the same reduced tuition rate.
