PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide information and referral resources and temporary emergency financial assistance according to agency policy and guidelines to individuals who contact Catholic Charities offices and to render supportive listening services and use human services skills as necessary to sustain the mission of Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Greensburg
SUPERVISOR: The Information and Referral Caseworker reports to the Managing Director. Daily work duties are provided and reviewed by the Director of Information and Referral.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate as a member of the Information and Referral team and assist the program supervisor
- Accept Intake calls and requests for service
- Provide short-term supportive and interventive service to clients
- Provide initial assessment of the client’s needs/concerns upon first contact with Catholic Charities and recommend appropriate service
- Be knowledgeable of existing community resources to make proper referrals and serve as a resource person for staff
- Keep updated on community resources and maintain updated information in the resource database as appropriate
- Provide adequate information and referral services to clients and use appropriate follow-up procedures to determine whether the client was helped
- Communicate adequate information to the Director of Information and Referral team to ensure appropriate treatment and service
- Ensure confidentiality of clients and all appropriate agency information
- Perform other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or required to meet emergency needs
- Provide services and accept assignments to any designated Catholic Charities location
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major preferably in the field of Human Services and a minimum of two years of human services experience
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred
- A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage are required
- Certification as an information and referral specialist through AIRS must be obtained after one year of employment at no cost to the employee
All employees of the Diocese of Greensburg are required to provide current Act 33/34 clearances, FBI Clearances, complete Virtus Training, Act 31 Training, and complete a signed acknowledgment of the Pastoral Code of Conduct.
