The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Regional Program Facilitator

Position Summary:
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Regional Program Facilitator will share the culture of CGS with families, communities, parishes, and schools in the assigned region and will work with the Diocese of Greensburg Regional Directors of Faith Formation in the neighboring areas. This Program Facilitator will work under the Diocese of Greensburg Office of Faith, Family and Discipleship and report to the Regional Director. The Program Facilitator will work with the parish sites, catechists, parents, and children to create a safe and loving faith formation environment for all. The Program Facilitator should be able to articulate the vision and direction of the Diocesan Faith Formation programs and how CGS fits into the vision. This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Regular Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the needs of the Atrium, catechists and children are being met.
- Serve as liaison between the parish sites and catechists to make sure the building is open and properly set up in advance of and during programming hours, appropriate building supervision is in place and the building is secured following programming hours.
- Based on the needs and schedules of student and families, work with the catechists to create sessions and schedules that meet program expectations and suit the needs of students and families.
- Respond compassionately, tactfully, and proficiently to pastoral issues arising from concerns of parishes, catechists, parents, and youth regarding the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program.
- Work directly with the Diocese of Greensburg Regional Directors to ensure that parishioners’ needs are met.
- Coordinate registration process and collect money from families.
- Build a positive working environment.
- Communicate with parents and families at least monthly.
- Communicate all CGS offerings to the surrounding regional parishes.
- Communicate all offerings of the surrounding regional parishes to the CGS families.
- Assist the Regional Director(s) if requested.
- Ensure that clearances and trainings and all safe environment requirements are up to date for all program employees and volunteers.
- Pursue further education and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program Facilitators must:
- Have a general understanding of all the standard tools of communication used in parishes.
- Be knowledgeable of and have formation in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
- Be passionate about the Catholic faith and about passing it along to the next generation and their families.
- Be compassionate and caring when working with children, families, and the local parishes.
- Be able to communicate in writing and verbally the vision of CGS within the parishes’ pastoral plan.
- Successfully pass Criminal Background Checks and complete Safe Environment requirements for the Diocese of Greensburg and sustain this clearance.
