Anointing and Burial of Christ Service

You are cordially invited to attend a special service on Good Friday, April 18, at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish at the Lucernemines site. The Capuchin friars will be accompanied by the parishioners for a reenactment of the ancient and solemn service of the Anointing and Burial of Jesus, which is traditionally held at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on this holy occasion. This service solemnly reenacts the burial of Christ as the Gospel of John attests. The Franciscans have faithfully prayed this service in Jerusalem since their arrival as Roman Catholic ministers at the Holy Sepulchre in the 13th century. The only other known place, outside of the Holy Land, where this service is held is at the replica in Washington, D.C.
