Visual Media, Marketing and Communications Intern

Greensburg, PA

Commitment: Part-time (approximately 10 hours per week)
Core Function: Support the Communications department of the Diocese of Greensburg
Reports to: Director of Marketing, Director of Visual Communications.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Diocese of Greensburg is seeking motivated individuals with interests in evangelization, communications, photography, videography graphic design and social media to assist in our communications strategy. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Four (4) hours per week are expected in the office and six (6) hours per week in the field collecting visual media. Hours may include some early morning, night and/or weekend meetings or events. A stipend and mileage will be provided.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended to describe the general tasks of this position. Additional duties may be added on an as needed basis.

  1. Gain understanding of Diocese of Greensburg goals, philosophies, branding and communication techniques.
  2. Provide visual support for materials including photography, video, social media posts, website content, etc.
  3. Complete miscellaneous layout and design projects
  4. Assist with preparation and implementation of special events.

QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, or Business. Junior or senior level student is preferred. Computer skills, including proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and social media. Detail-oriented and organized with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct basic research, including one-on-one or group interviews. A commitment to professional ethics and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated ability to work individually and in a team environment. Punctuality and dependability.

Multimedia Content Manager

Diocese Office of Communications and Evangelization, Greensburg, PA

The Multimedia Content Manager is the daily producer of the Diocese of Greensburg’s content development team. The Multimedia Content Manager writes and edits news and feature articles and assigns stories to on-staff writers and freelance writers and photographers. The Multimedia Content Manager in conjunction with Office of Communications and Evangelization leadership team monitors story development progress and helps staff solve problems. This person helps maintain an editorial calendar that ensures coverage of strategically important topics and events. The Multimedia Content Manager is responsible for helping to update the Diocesan news presence and assembling all external communications, including Diocesan publications.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Advertising, Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic faith. 
  • Three or more years of experience with a multimedia publication or multimedia agency. 
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills to present ideas and information in a multimedia context.
  • Knowledge of publication, photo and video editing software.
  • Ability to work independently and lead efficiently. 
  • Imagination and creativity along with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills with good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good collaboration skills.
Additional Information:
Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary. A background check and all required clearances are required for employment in this position.

 

Web Intern

Diocese Office of Information Technologies, Greensburg, PA

Job Class:

  • This paid position is a temporary, part-time, hourly internship.
  • Start date flexible.
  • 15 to 20 hours per week based on availability.
  • Full-time summer hours.
  • Internship may be used towards credit at a college, university or equivalent institution if applicable.

Primary Functions & Objectives: The Web/New Media intern will assist the Web Content Developer with day-to-day operations of the diocesan Internet, Intranet and Extranet websites. This involves content creation, design, as well as photography, audio and video creation.  It also involves troubleshooting of website issues that we, or our content creators, may be experiencing. These functions will include working with diocesan staff, including but not limited to the Office of Information Technologies team, clergy, parish and school personnel.

All Pennsylvania clearance and background screens will be required upon hiring. Candidates need not be Catholic but have knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Minimum Qualifications: Interested candidates will be ready to contribute on day one with the ability to work hard and learn quickly. We are seeking a student in an undergraduate or post graduate degree program in communications, digital media, mass media, journalism or its equivalent academic field. Candidates must possess strong writing and design, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. You must work well in a team setting and speak well in front of others.

Writing and design skills must be fully demonstrated with samples submitted with resume. A proven knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop CS5 or greater are a must. Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash and Microsoft SharePoint (or any website content management system), is also helpful.

Candidates must be willing to travel for projects scheduled off campus; some of which may include off hours.

Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will be to support the Web Team, which will include projects for other diocesan entities.

General Maintenance Technician

A non-profit in Greensburg and Connellsville area is seeking a general maintenance technician.  Must have building trades experience.  Duties would include plumbing, electrical, painting, snow removal, lawn care as well as other tasks as required.  Must have the ability to work from a ladder or lifting device. Willingness to be called to work in the event of an emergency.  Must have valid driver’s license.

Elementary School Business Manager
The Divine Redeemer School, Ford City, PA

Coordinator of Catechsis

Saint Bruno Parish, South Greensburg
Saint Bruno Parish, South Greensburg is seeking to hire a part-time Coordinator of Catechesis to begin work effective August 27, 2018. A candidate must be a practicing Catholic. Candidate may possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Religious Education and/or have completed the Pathways program. The position will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, recruiting and training volunteers to carry out preparation for all the sacraments along with the religious education program and youth group.  As part of the Parish team this position will assist with all phases of the Parish program.

Catholic Foundation Administrative Assistant

The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Greensburg, Greensburg

The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Greensburg is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to maintain comprehensive, accurate and relevant data for donor database, perform administrative duties for the Catholic Foundation, and assist with the coordination of the initiatives of the office with other appropriate diocesan offices, programs, and services.  This person will also oversee the preparation of acknowledgement letters, accurate and timely financial reports on donor gifts, and follow-up status reports.

Ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree, or an associate's degree in business, administration or secretarial science with training in business with at least 5 years of experience, and experience with Raiser's Edge database software.
