Schedule of the Day

8:30 a.m. - Register and Enjoy Hospitality

9:00 a.m. - Welcome and Gather in Prayer

9:20 a.m. - Session 1 – Accompanying Youth Today / Becoming a Faith Companion
The Emmaus journey provides a model for walking with youth in faith. We accompany those who are searching: we listen; we walk with them in their questions; we lead them to encounter Christ; and we empower them for mission and witness! This session will explore the process of accompaniment. We will consider the concerns and hopes of youth today and the journey of becoming a faith companion.

10:45 a.m. - Take a Break

11:00 a.m. - Session 2 – Guiding Youth in Discernment
Why did God create me? What does it mean to be a child of God? This session will consider these big picture questions. We will also look at the typical way youth make decisions and consider ways to guide them to discern as they make everyday life choices, but also as they consider their life’s purpose and direction, and align their life with God’s loving plan.

12:15 p.m. - Have Lunch and Break

1:00 p.m. - Session 3 – Helping Youth Pray
Discernment is the fruit of prayer. This session will engage participants in dialogue about the possibilities and the obstacles for praying with youth. This will include resources, strategies, and ideas that work in helping youth grow in their prayer life, which includes personal prayer practices, engagement with sacraments, and participation in communal prayer.

Session 4 – Empowering a Community that Accompanies
God initiates the relationship with young people; the faith community witnesses to faith and walks with young disciples. This session will explore what it means to be a parish that accompanies youth. Together, we will explore ways to transform and grow our ministries with youth as we engage them in parishes who welcome their gifts.

2:15 p.m. - Gather for Closing Prayer

2:30 p.m. - Go and Share the Good News!
