Photographer/Multimedia Internship
This is an internship in the Office for Communications that supports The Catholic Accent, the official newspaper of the Diocese of Greensburg. The days and hours can be flexible. The intern will report to the staff photographer/multimedia specialist.

This is a paid internship in the Office for Communications that supports The Catholic Accent, the official newspaper of the Diocese of Greensburg, and its social media presence. The days and hours can be flexible and extend into the fall. The intern will report to the staff photographer/multimedia specialist.


Take photos of diocesan and parish events in photojournalistic style.

Select and edit images using Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom software.

Work collaboratively with staff photographer to organize and archive diocesan photos.

Work closely with the staff photographer to create a library of stock photos and photo illustrations.

Cognizant of readership demographics and opportunities for growth, contribute fresh ideas toward the advancement of the diocesan newspaper and its social media.

Create visual content for The Catholic Accent's social media presence.

Work together with assigned departments within the pastoral center to produce photos for marketing purposes.

During newspaper production, size and format photos for the printing process while working under deadline.

Other duties as assigned by the photographer/multimedia specialist, which may include video production.

Skills required:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will be working toward a photography and/or multimedia degree and should have at least one full year of studies completed.

Experience covering live events in photojournalistic style.

Demonstrated competence in using a DSLR camera.

Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign as well as Microsoft Office and Windows platform.

Adept at multitasking between projects in various stages of completion.

Basic understanding of the Catholic faith and Mass.

Experience in producing video using Adobe Premiere Pro software desired but not required.

Time Commitment:

The days and hours can be flexible, and the average work week will be 15-20 hours.

Work Environment and Hours:

The photography/multimedia intern will work collaboratively with a seven-person team in the Office for Communications.

Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. Must have a reliable means of transportation, and assignments include mileage reimbursement.

New Media Internship | Office of Information Technologies

This paid position is a temporary, part-time, hourly internship.

Start date flexible.

15 to 20 hours per week based on availability.

Full-time summer hours possible.

Internship may be used towards credit at a college, university or equivalent institution if applicable.

Primary Functions & Objectives

The Web/New Media intern will assist the New Media Manager and Web Content Developer with day-to-day operations of the diocesan Internet and Intranet, as well as some diocesan social media. This involves content creation, design, as well as photography, audio and video creation. These functions will include working with diocesan staff, including but not limited to the Office of Information Technologies team, clergy, and parish and school personnel.

All Pennsylvania clearance and background screens will be required upon hiring.

Candidates need not be Catholic, but have knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Minimum Qualifications

Interested candidates will be ready to contribute on day one with the ability to work hard and learn quickly.  We are seeking a student in an undergraduate or post graduate degree program in communications, digital media, mass media, journalism or its equivalent academic field. Candidates must possess strong writing and design, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. You must work well in a team setting, and speak well in front of others.

Writing and design skills must be fully demonstrated with samples submitted with resume. A proven knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop CS5 or greater are a must. Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash and Microsoft SharePoint is also helpful.

Candidates must be willing to travel for projects scheduled off campus; some of which may include off hours.


Your primary responsibilities will be to support the New Media/Web Team, which will include projects for other diocesan entities.

On a day-to-day basis you will help create, design and produce content on the diocesan, parish and school websites. This would include general usage content, event coverage, breaking news, departmental requests, registrations, panels, logos, video and audio content. Assistance and assignment of web related Help Desk tickets will also be required.

You will assist in content migration for new website projects, web and social media training, documentation creation and quality assurance and posting of diocesan social media, i.e. event coverage and breaking news.

Candidates may maintain contact and collaborate with parishes throughout the developmental stages of parish website builds; as well as create, design and produce content on these websites.

You will work with the New Media Manager and Information Technologies team to maintain the necessary security surrounding access to its sites and ensure adherence to diocesan policies concerning usage and maintenance.
