Regional Director of Youth Ministry and Discipleship
Multiple Parishes in the Diocese
Position Summary:
The Regional Director of Youth Ministry and Discipleship oversees the youth (grades 7 -12) and discipleship efforts, in multiple parishes within a defined geographical area within the Diocese of Greensburg. The Regional Director is responsible for creating teams that cooperate to fill the youth ministry needs of the parishes. The Regional Director of Youth Ministry also is responsible for assisting the Regional Direction of Faith Formation with leadership and resources for the parishes to build a solid foundation in spirituality, discipleship, catechesis, and youth ministry through different methods of learning.
The position works with the pastoral staff and priests at the local level and reports to the Managing Director of Faith, Family and Discipleship at the Diocese of Greensburg. The Office of Faith, Family and Discipleship will provide supervision, resources, and aid in the collaboration efforts to help establish the regional position that is in line with the Bishop’s vision of a creative, experiential faith formation and discipleship process that is in line with the Roman Catholic Church.
Responsibilities:
- Assist parishes in designing a catechetical program which support lifelong faith formation and discipleship.
- Coordinate approaches to and implementation of multiple parish youth faith development.
- Evaluate the youth ministry programs of each assigned parish and identify approaches to use shared programming and resources across the parishes.
- Consider the best resources in the region and utilize them to their best ability.
- Help catechists/volunteers to grow in their own faith, personal and educational development.

- Training and Ongoing formation of Catechists and Youth Ministry Teams

- Coordinate multiple parish youth ministry and Confirmation programs.
- Be resourceful in helping the youth ministry teams understand multiple methods of teaching faith formation in the parishes.
- Combine the skill of managing people with the gift of faith.
- Find and develop volunteers to help with ministry efforts.
- Build lay leadership at the parish level.
- Have a general understanding of all the standard tools of communication used in parishes.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Confirmation requirements and wholistic youth ministry programs.
- Compassionate and caring when working with students, families, and the local parishes.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Regional Director of Youth Ministry and Discipleship must
- be a practicing Catholic in good standing (registered and active member of a Catholic parish faith community).
- respect and promote Roman Catholic Church teachings.
- have familiarity with Service Projects, Mission Trips, local and National Youth Conferences
- have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to multiple locations with self-provided reliable transportation.
- Successfully pass Criminal Background Checks and complete Safe Environment requirements for the Diocese of Greensburg and sustain this clearance.
- have advanced certification or the equivalent in the Diocese of Greensburg or be willing to work towards it.
The position is full-time exempt. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, is necessary to succeed in this position. The Regional Director will have office and storage space at multiple locations.
The salary is based on qualifications and experience.
