OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION LEGACY SOCIETY
The Our Lady of the Assumption Legacy Society of the Diocese of Greensburg is dedicated to Mary, assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, and designated as the Patroness of our Diocese in 1960 by Pope Saint John XXIII. This society was created to thank and honor our legacy donors who have chosen to make their philanthropy a perpetual gift by remembering their parish or the Diocese in their estate planning.
Our Patroness is beautifully represented at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg, the Mother Church of the Diocese, in a reproduction of Annibale Carracci’s Assumption of the Virgin, the original of which was painted in 1600 and hangs in the Church of Santa Maria del Populo in Rome. This sacred image reminds us that Mary already shares in the glory of her Son’s Resurrection and points us toward the hope prepared for all the faithful.
