Catholic Scouting Family Celebration & Convocation Mass
The annual Convocation Mass was held on April 28, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 306 St Johns Dr., Latrobe, PA 15650
The Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting invited all Catholic Scouts and their units and families to a celebration of Catholic Scouting. A Convocation Mass was held at 3:00 PM celebrated by Bishop Larry J. Kulick, J.C.L. Bishop Kulick is an Eagle Scout and has served as a Chaplain at Camp Conestoga when in seminary formation. He is very supportive of Scouting and particularly our Catholic Chartered Scout units. Bishop Kulick sees great benefit in the religious emblem programs and additional offerings made available to Catholic scouts and families through the diocesan and national committees. Information about these programs for both Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA will be available.

Adult Facilitator & Moderator Training
** Please note that in addition to the certification training, all participants must have Protecting God’s Children (VIRTUS) training, sign the Diocesan Code of Pastoral Conduct, and complete all PA Child Services Law requirements. The Boy Scouts of America also require training.
Adult Facilitator Training for Pope Pius XII Emblem
Adult leaders of Boy Scouts have the opportunity to earn their certification in order to work with scouts seeking the Pope Pius XII Emblem. Individuals must be recertified every five years. There is no cost for the training.
Adult Moderator Training for Ad Altare Dei Emblem
Adult leaders of Boy Scouts have the opportunity to earn their certification in order to work with scouts seeking the Ad Altare Dei Emblem. Individuals must be recertified every five years. There is no cost for the training.
Adult Girl Scout Emblem Training
Adult leaders of Girl Scouts have the opportunity to earn their certification in order to work with scouts seeking the Marian Emblem, Spirit Alive Emblem, and Elizabeth Ann Seton Emblem. Individuals must be recertified every three years. There is no cost for the training. There is no scheduled date at this time.
