This introductory course explores the basics of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults process, including the purpose of Christian Initiation, how to recognize the difference between a catechumen and a candidate, organizing the Christian Initiation calendar and its rites, integration into the parish community, and basic norms of the Diocese of Greensburg. It is designed for all those involved in the Christian Initiation process, including clergy, Regional Directors, Parish Catechetical Leaders, Christian Initiation Leaders, catechists, and sponsors.
Upon completion, attendees will receive 5 hours of Continuing Catechist Certification credits

Re-Envisioning Christian Initiation
Part 1: Saturday, October 3, 2026 – 9:00AM – 3:00PM
Part 2: Saturday, October 17, 2026 – 9:00AM – 3:00PM

This in-depth training explores how the Catechumenate has the potential to increase the vibrancy and vitality of our parish communities through the integration of the Christian Initiation process in the life of the parish. Practical ways in which all parishes can fully implement the principles of Christian Initiation ministry that are presented in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults will be shared. All Clergy, Regional Directors, Parish Catechetical Leaders, Christian Initiation Leaders, and Catechists involved in OCIA must attend this training for qualification.
Upon completion, attendees will receive 10 hours of Continuing Catechist Certification credits

Rejoice Always! The Easter Vigil and New Beginnings
Option 1: Thursday, January 21, 2027 – 9:00AM – 3:00PM

This training will explore the final stages of the Christian Initiation process, including the celebration of the Easter Vigil and the period of post-Vigil Mystagogy. Participants will consider how the Church accompanies the elect and candidates in the immediate preparation for the Easter sacraments, how the rites of the Easter Vigil reveal the fullness of Christian Initiation, and how Mystagogy helps the newly initiated continue to grow as disciples within the life of the parish community. Practical guidance will be offered for preparing and celebrating the rites with reverence, clarity and pastoral care, as well as for planning meaningful mystagogy sessions that help neophytes reflect on the graces they have received and take their next steps in the life of faith. All Clergy, Regional Directors, Parish Catechetical Leaders, Christian Initiation Leaders, and Catechists are strongly encouraged to attend.
